Just across the Mighty Mississippi…
My son, Andy moved to Minneapolis just before Christmas to accept a new job position. Any trek west from Ohio demands we stop out and check up on him and Dewey. Or maybe I just want to have any excuse to visit my bubba boy when I can!
Andy lives in a great condo around the corner from great restaurants, very close to the Greenway, and within walking distance of Lake Calhoun.
After settling into Lowry Grove Park we meet up with Andy on Thursday evening.
After some brewskis on the rooftop of Lynnlake Brewery we have more brewskis and decadent burgers and fish tacos at Bryant Lake Bowl.
On Friday we settle in and I do laundry. Lowry Grove is predominately a trailer park. Children run out of the school bus and head for home. It looks rough around the edges. However, I meet some remarkable people! One woman notices how happy I am as I reorganize my wordpress while my clothes wash and dry. A man shares his Vietnam Nam War experience with me. A woman compliments me on my tan. An older woman shares gossip with me.
Later that afternoon we meet Andy for a tour of his office. Very impressive as is his casual chic style of dress.
After taking Dewey for a walk to Calhoun Lake, we choose to dine at Stella’s seafood restaurant on the rooftop, no less.
Here are pictures of the incredible view:
And for an incredible meal we shared tuna tartar and oysters for appetizers. Andy ordered the jerk salmon entree. Jeff selected the Parmesan crusted halibut. I enjoyed the scallop special.
The next day I cried all the way to Plankinton, South Dakota.
